The flexibility and ease of operation of RCL’s DR2 remote controlled spotlights made it the perfect choice for India’s largest hotel ballroom. The Grand Sapphire Ballroom at the Kempinski Ambience Hotel, Delhi has capacity for up to 6,000 guests and plays host to events from royal weddings to conferences.
Singapore-based Illuminate Lighting Design specified 265 DR2 luminaires for the huge, pillar-less ballroom which can be divided into five smaller spaces of differing capacities, equipped with state-of-the-art technology including audio-visual. Remote tilting, panning and dimming mean that staff can refocus and redirect lighting at the touch of a button each time the space is reconfigured, for example, changing from atmospheric down lighting on dining tables to an even ambient light for a large scale meeting with screen presentations. The, 20,000 square metre, 480-guest room hotel designed by Achal Kataria opened in 2013 in east Delhi near the city’s prime business district.
